Hello, in this tutorial, we will import materials from 3D files to edit them. We will saw main properties of material edition and animate them.

1. First step

First of all, the result of this tutorial is available in the PixelOver download files in the examples/ folder.

You can use any 3D model for this tutorial while it has materials. When you imported your 3D model, you can select it by clicking on it in the scene tree or in the main view.

2. Importing materials

You can see a preview of the materials linked to the 3D file. You can click on “import and manage”, be aware this will unlink the materials from the 3d file, so if you externally modify the file it will not synchronize the materials anymore.

Ones the materials are imported you can click on them to edit their properties.

3. Material properties

General material properties are available to be edited. You have general material properties like color, texture and also ORM (Occlusion, Roughness, Metallic).

Also some special shaders are available similar to layers ones. Allowing you to use specific indexation palette or specific dithering pattern per material.

Every property can be animated allowing you to easily a quick animation thanks to UV properties for example :
